Re: 693MiB
Den 2016-06-06 kl. 02:47, skrev Israel:
Hi all,
I fixed the network manager issue (finally) and rebuilt the base and the
ISO and I rebuilt the ISO it is now 688MiB
So it is still CD sized... building the ISO at this stage is rather
precarious and somewhat of a mysterious art.
For example, if I delete the cache of debs the ISO will be 688MiB,
however if I leave it the ISO will be 715MiB... no idea what is going on
there... but it is small and *should* work.
I have NOT tested this exact image, though I tested an earlier one, and
all I changed in this one is the .jwmrc file. I have to modify it
'manually' to have the correct Buttons which I also manually add, and a
few other things.
Anyhow I had to rebuild it a few times today, and I did some other tests.
I ran it in virt-manager (aka virtual machine manager) in 128MB ram. I
found that the OS loaded well. I also ran it on some hardware and found
that 256MB + RAM is probably the optimal amount of RAM for the best
experience, this is due to the compression we use... though less RAM and
a swap partition should work fine... As in the installer process we make
a SWAP partition and activate it before decompression.
If anyone has a system with 128MB ram and wants to test it please do. I
have a system that I think I can get down to 128MB RAM, but I am not
sure it may only have 256 modules..... I don't remember right now.
I will e-mail when it is relinked which should be in about one hour +/-
depending on the rsync speedup I get. Sometimes it is extremely fast...
It is always much faster than the normal 3+ hours

Hi Israel,
+ I managed to install at the basic obi level.
+ The nm-applet widget is back in the panel.
- Something is missing in the current iso file. I think you removed too
much, when you deleted the cache of debs (or something similar).
- The menu is minimal. After that (and refresh) the menu looks normal
again. This menu problem affects both the live and the installed system.
- In the live system I tried running (non-existing) commands from a
terminal window. Then it wants to run
update-command-not-found
(as root) to fix it. After that things looks better.
- But I cannot shutdown the live system via the menu. The shutdown
desktop icon still works.
0 'display' is there in the installed system, and no need for
'update-command-not-found'.
See also the attachments.
By the way, what program is displaying pictures, like the wallpaper, in
the live system? display is not there, and not feh, at least not in PATH.
Best regards
Nio
