Re: Fwd: ToriOS and ISO update

Hi,

I am uploading RC2 currently :)
It should be ready for the meeting tomorrow.
I have tested it in a VM multiple times, as well as on a real computer.
I have not burned it to CD and tested it on the oldest computer.

So...
It works, though I need a temporary hack to work around an issue... but
it has worked on virtual and real machines of different
configurations... so it *should* work.
It is running a bit higher in memory though :(
It is now close to 78MB .... but we have auto mounting of drives (which
can be disabled through the Autostart) and power management (same)
So, for a desktop you don't need power management.... really.
And if you don't want automounting you don't *have* to have it.

But... in all reality it is lean and runs quickly.
We will all need to test this heavily and work out any issues we have
found... but if this does work (mostly) for everyone then we can bump
this to Beta and fix the minor issues and add the other programs in
before the final release.

There are so many improvements over the last version... I don't know
what to list :)
Though a lot of those things are 'invisible' there are some very
visible things

Wireless should 'just work'. Shutdown should 'just work'. Inserting
media should 'just work'. Sound should 'just work'
If any of those fail, please let me know, so I can look into it. I will
also be testing this. I will be installing things and trying to use it
like normal.... I will also install it on the "Tori" Machine... it
currently has a lot of memory [ 128+256 ] but I will also test it with
less.
I have tested it in a VM with 128 and it works fine (so far anyhow)
I am actually surprised.... it runs a modern OS on those computers, much
like the outdated OS ran... but with modern apps, and security :)
I will let you all know more about my testing later
