Hi,

Hello everyone,

I am uploading RC2 currently :)

Good luck with that :)
It should be ready for the meeting tomorrow.

No rush!

I have tested it in a VM multiple times, as well as on a real computer. I have not burned it to CD and tested it on the oldest computer.

So...
It works, though I need a temporary hack to work around an issue... but it has worked on virtual and real machines of different configurations... so it *should* work.
It is running a bit higher in memory though :(
It is now close to 78MB .... but we have auto mounting of drives (which can be disabled through the Autostart) and power management (same)
So, for a desktop you don't need power management.... really.
And if you don't want automounting you don't *have* to have it.

But... in all reality it is lean and runs quickly.
We will all need to test this heavily and work out any issues we have found... but if this does work (mostly) for everyone then we can bump this to Beta and fix the minor issues and add the other programs in before the final release.

There are so many improvements over the last version... I don't know what to list :) Though a lot of those things are 'invisible' there are some very visible things

Wireless should 'just work'. Shutdown should 'just work'. Inserting media should 'just work'. Sound should 'just work' If any of those fail, please let me know, so I can look into it. I will also be testing this. I will be installing things and trying to use it like normal.... I will also install it on the "Tori" Machine... it currently has a lot of memory [ 128+256 ] but I will also test it with less.
I have tested it in a VM with 128 and it works fine (so far anyhow)
I am actually surprised.... it runs a modern OS on those computers, much like the outdated OS ran... but with modern apps, and security :)
I will let you all know more about my testing later

I will repeat what I have mentioned many times before :D

NO RUSH!
No, I am not shouting, just a highlight :D

Before going to Beta, WE (we as a team and ToriOS as a system) must be fully ready for that. Why? because after Beta, there is 1.0 and the real Q is: are WE (us + the system) ready yet?

The answer as far as I can see is not yet. We are ready for Alpha but not yet for Beta. System wise, team wise, we are not yet ready. Maybe we should talk about that at the meeting - when is that by the way?!

The 'more' memory usage is NOT good news at all. Regardless what is the reason, it is bad news. We need to be careful here. Yes, the less, the better. This is going to be super helpful with marketing.

Also, we must be very careful. Now, the world has started to look at ToriOS more closely ;)

I have contacted two well-known websites and ToriOS is listed now on their database so we must be extra careful ...

I think the meeting is needed for this week so let's see ...

Hi,

Hi again,

I have asked the team to do so long time back but none has done it so I have done it myself :)

We suppose to have a marketing group but this is super inactive and I am not happy about this at all.

This action - unlike what you may think of it - is going to be very helpful. We do need more attention. I am not sure how many people are visiting our website per day/week but let's hope if ToriOS will be added to DistroWatch.com ... let's hope this will bring more attention.

I shall carry on with doing whatever I could whenever I can to spread the word ...

ToriOS now on DistroWatch.com Database and by Monday, let's hope they will mention it on the Weekly Updates :D

Being on No.1 GNU/Linux online database is a huge achievement if you ask me. If you read the requirements to be listed, I think we have completed many if not all so most likely, it will be listed and not just sit in the waiting list ... let's hope :)
