Interesting theory, but I think it's more likely a combination. ACPI
has a LID event, and my Toshiba only seems to emit them when the lid
is closed normally. Converting to tablet doesn't trigger a LID event,
however it does seem to trigger a lid opened event. To do that
requires knowing which way the tablet is oriented.
