Hi there! We forgot to include the po templates with version 24, so Evan released version 25 with those. The new templates have been spotted by Rosetta and are waiting for review (which unfortunately I can't do myself): https://translations.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/maverick/+source/ubiquity-slideshow-ubuntu/+imports
Thanks for pointing that out! Between learning about compilers and playing with Lego, I forgot that .pot files needed to be reviewed.

Unfortunately, there is no way to translate the screenshots for this release. I'll make sure, where possible, that they don't lean on written language. Hopefully we can get these to communicate to a user who doesn't read English without looking wrong. Ideally, the screenshots just won't ask to be read.

I haven't scheduled a session, but I will work on schedules and
translated screenshots at UDS. The slideshow has the unfortunate issue
of being dependant on the final state of things (which for this cycle
has fluctuated rapidly), and on how busy I am in the months leading up
to release, so it is rather difficult to time it right. I'm sure that
can be improved in a number of ways.


I opted to be fairly quiet about this and only have a proper release when the strings were frozen. This was in reaction to issues that appeared in 10.04, where we ended up with lots of translations being written for strings that were actually not final (with no error on the part of the translators), leading to a great deal of confusion and unhappiness.

Hoping we can avoid that this cycle! :)

In short, don't worry about the deadline; we will take care of this.

Why have the new slide shows not been made available for translation?
We have been maintaining the translation for the 10.10 slide show and in the end only one line actually matches the content of the final side show. This feels like an insult and a slap in the face, to to mention that the one translated line looks misplaced in the middle of all that English text.
Also how are we to translate the screenshots in the slideshow?
