Agenda

Ok, here are the issues we hope to address;

1. Oliver Koos, who is on the wiki for PR duties, has not attended any
meetings, or (as far as I know) contacted anyone on the mailing list. If
Oliver does not respond, the position will be re-opened.

2. We need a Project Leader for Graphics design.

3. Brand Identity; some people are using one header, some are using another
header. Even the logo has been altered. Our visual identity is important; if
you have issues with the 'official' identity then we will of course, listen,
but putting up your own is NOT going to help.

4. Group restructure; Last night it was made blindingly obvious to me that
attempting to do everything for the Natty release schedule is...well...going
to result in either burnout for me, or a really, REALLY crappy project. We
need to build up our reputation, build up our manpower and skillset. So I
propose we start pulling in for the long-haul and change our mission
statement.

I propose that we operate not only to promote Ubuntu, but FOSS apps;
developers/programmers have a reputation for not conversing properly with
end-users. We, as a group, should act as the bridge between the two. I
propose that we seek out projects in need of help in terms of graphics
skills and end-user documentation and assist with them. This will, of
course, not only help Ubuntu, but the entire Linux ecosystem. We also direct
our efforts towards such issues worked on by other groups. As far as I know,
there are no teams with this as their single purpose.

I also propose that we write documentation welcoming end-users to Ubuntu,
that we work on banners, flyers, etc. and that as we build up our numbers
and skills, we begin work on short videos, culminating in the short 'ad'
that was originally planned.

In terms of direct restructuring, let me explain the process to you:

Someone has an idea, first off, the Documentation team (IE, my team) gets
ahold of it, writes documentation and passes the output to both the
translation and graphics team. The translators feed into the graphics team,
who also prepare the final article. The final article is passed back into
the documentation team. We check it over and send it out if everything looks
good.

Of course, it won't always flow that way, if we get a task/idea from a
developer who does not speak the documentation's team langauge, then it's
passed to translators first., but you get the general idea. Our goal is to
become the defacto non-programming supporting group in Ubuntu, to promote
both Ubuntu, the Ubuntu ideal and FOSS applications. There is no single
reason why this cannot come to pass; and Linux as a whole would benefit from
our work. We will be far more useful this way, rather then trying to output
a little video with little support behind us and a very small amount of
manpower. We cannot continue as we are.
