Mountain Biking
Hi everybody! I don't remember where I found the link to the group but if
I'm passionate about two things, it's biking and Ubuntu. I'm originally
from Alaska (currently at school in Utah) so mountain biking has always been
a readily available, fun activity. When I was in high school I competed in
the local mountain bike racing series and did a Hammerman triathlon with a
team (I did the biking). I'm currently riding a Diamondback Overdrive (29''
wheels!) as my commuter to school everyday (except for when it's in the shop
:( like it is right now). My brother lets me ride his fixie for kicks when
I'm bored with gears.
My first introduction to Linux was with Redhat 7 (I think?) back in 2003
during my freshman year of college. I was taking a course on Java
programming and discovered how much easier it was to compile the code in
Linux. I'll admit, the idea of a free OS hadn't quite hit me yet so I
wasn't sure if it was legal to be downloading the CDs off the internet and
installing it (my friends assured me it was). I left the country for a few
years to do some work in Russia, when I came back I installed Ubuntu 7.04
and haven't looked back since. Now I'm even getting my wife hooked.
Great idea for a group - if there's anybody in Utah that wants to go to Moab
sometime, let me know!
