Re: Moving to docbook markup

Nice summary page Kyle - thanks. The overwhelming point you made is that "we are the editors." I've got the lead for this cycle and I think once the core framework is in place it's a relatively easy process to update. Doctemplate seems to be a good solution right now and I like the images and localisation options. As much as I'd personally prefer straight html, doctemplate already has the tools to output to various formats and handle the images.

Speaking of screenshots and images I think it's worth having the images/screenshots locally instead of using the process used by the manual team. Any other thoughts on screenshots?

thanks all,

Belinda

How about;

As long as we don't spend too long discussing. We need to decide
fairly quickly because there's still a lot of work to be done
regardless of which format is chosen. The toolchain needs to be set
up and the current text needs to be converted to the new format. Then
editing can begin/resume.
agreed.
Perhaps we can analyze this systematically on a wiki?

This is probably somewhat incorrect and self-aggrandizing ( ;), but I throw it out there to provide a format for information gathering and collective
decision-making:

I've updated the LaTeX section.

the page says native source format of LaTeX is Unicode. I thought it was not because when writers added non-ASCII chars, the build broke and I replaced them. can you elaborate?
