Re: [Question #43800]: problem installing ubuntu on asus eee pc1000
Question #43800 on Ubuntu Eee changed:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu-eee/+question/43800
Status: Open => Needs information
DavidJay requested for more information:
Downloaded the Ubuntu-eee 804 and created a bootable CD for installation on an eeePC 1000.
Although the basic software was sucessfully installed one vital component was missing: the LAN link.
Other items missing were the Wifi link along with other such items as the F key functions.
Re-installed three times but the problem remained.
When installing, and re-installing, both 'drives' were erased of previous data.
On all occasions checked that both the LAN and WLan were enabled on booting
... also tried the TOtal POwer REMoval (TOPOREM) trick on the second and third re-installation
The third attempt was with a straight version Ubuntu 8.04 distro
disk...no solution.
When running the eeePC using Xandros all the systems appeared to function correctly including the LAN and WLAN
