I see no seriously troubling effects with either the standard Unity DE or with the flashback sessions, in fact the flashback w/Compiz session seems a bit better. Where about are the light text issues? In Unity itself or apps?

Only in 'gnome-panel' when using one of the flashback sessions, sorry I didn't make that clear.

This is probably a regression due to the recent gtk+ 3.10 update in Trusty.
