[Ubuntugnome-qa] Presentation
I just joined this group and here is a short presentation of me and my
opinions of an Operation System..
A computer is a tool and it should be easy to use - easy user interface
- for the user. If you need to navigate one more mouse click or mouse
move too much, which is not really needed for function, it is too much.
It is the challenge to the developer to make an Operation System (OS)
easy to adapt to the user.
I have used several OSs and have seen good, simple, and fast user
interfaces and to hard ones to use, Microsoft Windows 8.0 is an example
of a nasty one. The interface should be easy to use, and change,
depending on how you currently use the computer, i.e. as a pad or computer.
I started out my journey of computers in 1983 with ABC80
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ABC_80), Amiga 500 and 3000
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amiga), Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows
XP, Ubuntu (before Unity = Gnome), Debian 6 and 7 (Gnome). I have also
used some servers. The computers with Windows I have used, I have put
all hardware to piece it into a computer.
I really like the idea of Gnome and its general simplicity, but more
need to be done. In combination with a good foundation as Ubuntu we can
have the best OS around.
An upgrade of a computer system from one version to the next should not
be more buggy than the last one: Testing and verification is needed!
Microsoft and the Linux society have a lot to learn here.
I also program in C and C++, and have done some not published programs
to both Windows and nowadays Linux.
I have not done a Wiki-presentation, since I can't get through the Captcha.
