Re: How to test an ISO

Hello Sophie, let me first thank you for your volunteering.

You can test the ISO by running the system from the ISO. Just like
when you run Ubuntu, give it a hard day and search for errors, and
report them so developers can get on the job to fix them. But there
are some basic principles to keep:
- testing in a virtualized environment is usually disregarded as such
virtualization is always an emulated system without the full resources
of a computer
- running from Live CD mode is discouraged too as the livecd mode
loads more/different stuff than a real install, but it is somewhere to
start from
- third-party tweaks (those kept when you upgrade your system) can
alter the result and sometimes an error might only happen because of
your tweak... results are more clear if we use the released ISO
- _NEVER_ update your production laptop with valuable data on it to a
testing system! beta is beta for a reason, you might end up losing all
your files

Best regards,
Whisperity.
