Re: Artwork-Ubuntu Manual

Hi Kris,

Awesome stuff, welcome aboard.

Titlepage: I'm afraid the title page blueprint has already been assigned to
wolter. He's already made some mockups:
http://imagebin.ca/view/bcGCJuDD.html

If you'd like to join us in #ubuntu-manual on irc.freenode.net he's looking
for some feedback. Or you can post it in the whiteboard on the titlepage
blueprint.

The chapters: The first idea you have is good, although the chapter headers
are already set up. An image for each chapter would be fantastic and that's
what I've wanted from day one. This is mainly what the "artwork" blueprint
is all about. The second idea you had, about backgrounds for the pages i'm
not so fond on. My view on backgrounds is that they look a bit tacky when it
comes to a published book. Not to mention if this ever goes to print, it
would raise the cost.

The team logo is already made up for Launchpad - it's available in the
branch under the folder "Team Images" - it's pretty rough, all I did was
google search "book" - get an image, and then photoshop the ubuntu logo in.
You are welcome to have a go at creating a better logo.

And just one last thing, email your ideas to the mailing list instead of me
personally - that way everyone else can have their say :)

Cheers
Benjamin
