Excellent! I knew this was in progress, but I didn't know it was this
close to being complete.
If I understand correctly this work was led by David Herrmann. He has a

I imagine the display manager will play a role in all of this. I'm not
sure what changes would be required to support this feature, but it'd be
nice to submit some patches for LightDM.
