Re: an "emergency" mode ?
the dock and toolbar could "ghost" onto the screen from the left and
bottom, where they animate in from their respective edges and rapidly lose
opacity as they animate before disappearing altogether. All of this would
take ~1sec. The user would then be inclined to believe that dragging from
one of those edges would bring the hidden controls into view.
