Grooveshark at least, looking at the API they won't the app to send
messages after 30secs and at the end of a song.
Intrinsically, that's a limitation of the app, which requires that regular feedback. It's not specific to webapps, but to the way Grooveshark (or other services) handle client apps.

Instead, it could use the download service to get the next track in the background, and be notified once the track is ready to play, pass it on to MH,and sleep again.
