I hit that with my project also. Apparently absolute paths no longer work in
.desktop files. This is what I had to do:

-Exec=/usr/bin/qmlscene $@ /usr/share/tipcalc/tipcalc.qml
+Exec=qmlscene $@ tipcalc.qml
