And from the present release (8.2) they are hosted under owncloud.org domain. This is the only reason I mentioned the repo explicitly.

None in my case. I set up owncloud sync months ago, using syncevolution command. The configuration for contacts and calendar worked well throgh all ota updates since then.

I haven't setup anything for file sync, I use owncloud interactively from the web interface when i need it.
