FWIW, since I OTA-upgraded my rc-proposed device today morning, I have
the same. Also note that Wayne doesn't mean the black-on-white BQ boot
splash, but rather the Ubuntu one.
Turning the device on, first shows the white bq splash, then turns
black, and then unity8 appears.

im now on r210 seemed to happen on r209 update
ive tried hard reset and this never solved it.
