Re: GPS/location and other background processing
It was working quite well last week but not so good this week
It would be just good to have the feature of tracking or wiping our
phones if lost.
I know its a bit stupid if you leave your phone at some random location
but accidents do happen
so being able to track it back to were you was last can be very handy
i managed to get the node working and pushing back location fine
although its not a perfect way of doing this i was going to get them to
look more at using the mobile location and adding push into the node
which the developer said this could be done.
so if i can get them features to improve then get pushed into a click it
could be quite handy for people who may worry about loosing there
expensive devices
im just used to being able to track my phone with being a previous
iphone / android user is like comes built in - so its a luxury i guess?....

it isn't really about that, it is about providing less broken location
data to applications that ask for it. The current situation is that if
an application requests location data it gets given random coordinates
of somewhere you may have been to in the last week or so. Then it
thinks about refreshing the location and refining it over the next few
minutes or so if the application is one that asks where you are again
and again. If it could take a peek at the satellites every so often
then it would enable several additional classes of application and
would be less broken for things that only ask once.

I do not think that it is a good idea that some kind of "service" or
"secret service" tracks the location of your mobile device and you.
