Message #20299
Points of interest scope (& uNav)
Hi everybody,
I was wondering how the Points of Interest scope could be improved, and
I can't find it on Launchpad.
For example, there is this bug : when you tap on an item and then on
"See more", you see less because the button acts like a "back" button. I
notice this on 2 bq E4.5 and the M10.
Also, the scope could be much more user-friendly, beautiful and usable
if the grid was not a repetition of the same image. Would it be possible
to add some differenciation, like a generic icon for restaurant, bus
stop, bench or whatever? It would be even better to add a photo but I
don't think OSM supports this.
In my area, Yelp is not reliable at all. For example, I see restaurants
that have been closed for at least 6 years on Yelp and I can't do
anything about that, so the NearBy scope is mostly useless for me (also,
I have a medieval castle in my town and it does not even show in the
monuments nearby!). That's why I really like OSM and prefer to use the
OSM scope rather than the NearBy/Yelp one.
Yesterday there was yet another great uNav release which makes full use
of OSM data. Would it be possible/desirable to sort of "merge" the
Points of Interest scope into uNav, which is becoming much more than a
GPS navigator? What do you think?
Thanks to the Point of Interest scope and uNav, I started contributing
to OSM and it's very easy. I'm not a developer so I can't do much more
than that, but that's a start!
Thanks to everyone involved, in the Ubuntu world and beyond!
