Well, I think I found the reason for the not seeded messages:

 root@ubuntu-phablet:/home/phablet# ls -l /dev/random /dev/urandom
 -rw-rw-rw- 1 root root 0 May 12 16:14 /dev/random
 -rw-rw-rw- 1 root root 0 May 12 16:14 /dev/urandom

These are wrong for some reason. They should be like they are on my
workstation:

  amon@otv3:~$ ls -l /dev/urandom /dev/urandom
  crw-rw-rw- 1 root root 1, 9 May 12 09:55 /dev/urandom
  crw-rw-rw- 1 root root 1, 9 May 12 09:55 /dev/urandom

So I'm going to try fixing that and will see if that gets logins
working again.
