Installing Libertine was probably harmless but if you did go R/W and install arbitrary packages, all bets are off.
Reflashing is the clean thing to do.

I would not recommend creating a chroot and hacking around with your Touch system.  Instead, I would recommend creating
a Libertine container and installing a terminal applications in  it (not Gnome Terminal, which requires an integrated
desktop session, but maybe Terminator or one of the other similar lightweight terminal apps).  From there, you can
install all the packages you need without worrying about damaging your host system, and you have X.  Follow Oliver
Grawert's instructions for creating a container [1].

OTA-11, coming soon, has some important bugfixes and a new scope to make using Libertine containers easier.

We prefer that you do not try to subvert all the protections in place that are there to prevent you from damaging your
device, and use the tools that are there for the purpose.
