I've a new account with websocket, too. But it doesn't connect. Which 
settings did you exactly in the app for xmpp?

Like this?

Jabber ID: yourname

Passwort: ***...

Connect via:

wss://suchat.org:5281/websocket

or

http://suchat.org:5281/websocket

or something else?

I tried it with https://jabber.hot-chilli.net/account/create/ and

wss://jabber.hot-chilli.net:443/xmpp-websocket
https://jabber.hot-chilli.net:443/xmpp-websocket

and

wss://jabb3r.de:443/xmpp-websocket
https://jabb3r.de:443/xmpp-websocket

with my choosed domain in the first link with the account creation form
