+1
I worked on the inofficial German documentation on https://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/Ubuntu_Touch and the end of my Ubuntu Phone is VERY hard.
My last hope is on the community of ubports, yunit and so on. I know it is really hard. But thanks for taking the OPEN SOURCE, go on connecting you and please give some security updates for the "old" devices of BQ and so on.
Dear Canonical, look, you can give the project over to the hands of your communities. Despite all the (extern) community controversies. Maybe this could be the first step instead of say you discontinue and all is dead. But main thing it is said now. THANKS for all the done payed work until now!
Thanks to MARK Shuttleworth, thanks to Jane Silber, thanks to Pat, thanks to mlankhorst (xmir), mr. cook (nice first convergence howto videos) and to all developers and involved persons. Thanks to the users who believed in and lived this dream, too.
I hope it is only a HARD financial decision - I feel like the project gives up on 80%! Its real development seems very slow indeed but it was to do what was to do! So maybe the community will clear-out and make the last %, maybe it will reach some goles.
Android is no solution! Sailfish OS could be a solution. But Ubuntu Phone IS a solution. It is still in a state to go forward and not really ready - but it was and is amazing.
A VISION CAN NEVER DIE. A community can work without too much money. But you all, help them a little bit if you can. Don't compete with Android. Be an alternative! Not for all and for money. But for the last real Anti-NSA people. For a better world. With money from Community. Not millions but thousands! Take it for your time and we will see!

First pictures like pidgin messenger and a needed virtual keyboard xvkbd in a fluxbox desktop environment as a single "xmir app": https://media-cdn.ubuntu-de.org/forum/attachments/15/17/7524263-overview-fluxbox-xvkbd-dillo-pidgin-high.png This was maybe not your dream but mine! But your convergence dream is near that! So look, we want this. Not the normal users. They want unity 8. But some want pidgin and so on on there Ubuntu phone, too! Live on! Ubports (and yunit), I watch your video, you are great! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVEm4X2ptEk Ubports Q/A from 7th April 2017.

I have to agree with the positive comments here, I wish beyond anything that the project can continue in some form and at some point reach its goal.
I will keep my MX4 and BQ M10 with Ubuntu Touch and with other continue to hate the Android UI and lock in.
