Yeah, anecdotal fact here too.i own a crappy small nokia phone bought for all of 15 dollars. i keep it religiously in my room, its always off. Its my lifesaver. every morning the little bugger NEVER misses to ring the alarm.
it has practically kept me in a job. if i needed that with my droid i would have to leave it on and risk calls, messages and even battery drain through the night.
That nokia remains my best phone ever!! On 14/06/2013 10:42, Dalius wrote:
Just one anecdotal fact:I have replaced 6 Nokia phones. Each time old phone was usually still working (maybe problems with battery, other minor defects) and etc. I put old phones to drawer where I keep old electronic devices, accumulators and etc that I later bring to some place for utilisation. So I turn off phone and put it in drawer and always forget to turn off alarm. Next morning I have two alarms ringing - I hate it.I can easily see that something like that can happen to other people in plane during flight when all the plane is sleeping :-)Regards, DaliusOn Fri, Jun 14, 2013 at 12:23 PM, lina.pio <linapio@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx <mailto:linapio@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>> wrote:In fact there seem to be angry iPhone users who don't like it when their iPhone fails to wake them up because the phone's been turned off or in Airplane mode: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2621816?start=15&tstart=0 Also seem to be even more angry Android users about this missing feature: http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s3/576921-alarm-doesnt-work-when-phone-off.html On 14 Jun 2013, at 10:17, lina.pio <lina.pio@xxxxxxxxxxxxx <mailto:lina.pio@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>> wrote:That's a very good question. Does anyone actually know why it was taken out if that's a behaviour that no longer exists on Nokia phones? From my point of view: if you have an alarm set to wake you up in the morning, you want to be woken up by it, phone off or not. I've never tried turning my phone off with an alarm set on my iPhone, I don't think I ever trusted it. But it was a feature I particularly liked about my old Nokia phone years ago - the alarm was resilient. But perhaps this can be an option enabled in the app settings? Apparently Nokia Symbian/Maemo/MeeGo used to have this behaviour, and we want to determine whether this is the path we want to go with our alarms as well. Lina, could you help us on this one?
