Re: Translations stats

Al 02/03/12 15:44, En/na Andrej Znidarsic ha escrit:
I had an idea.
Once there is some data gathered it would be cool to have (in addition
to the graph and number of strings remaining) average number of
translated strings per day in the last week and also a linear estimate
in how many days all strings will be translated if the tempo of previous
week continues. Number of days untill all strings are translated could
be compared with time till translation deadline and then colored
accordingly.

Good ideas too. I'll have to set up a project and start filing these as bugs.

For example if there are 20 days left till translation freeze and the
estimate till 100% is 15 days then number 15 is green, if it's 19 days
it's yellow and if it's 30 days it's red (as in if this tempo continues
Ubuntu won't be translated in time). I think red color might encourage
some translation teams.

What do you guys think?

I think, as we've got the data, it should be doable, although it's difficult to estimate how difficult it would be.

Also, the site with stats seems to be currently down.

Indeed, thanks for the heads up. There seemed to be a glitch with the Canonical cloud we use for this kind of test instances. The site is now back online, but I need to re-populate the data.

Cheers,
David.

Maybe one could also make number of strings reamaining?
I thinik that might be more interesing because percentages won't
        change
much (maybe a percent per week or so) so it will be straight
        line for
most teams. With strings I think this could be more vivid
        (graphs would
        change more over time).

That's a great idea. I probably won't be able to add it before the
Global Jam, but I'll do it as soon as I can.

If anyone has got any ideas, either from the "crazy" or
"easy-to-fix" departments, please feel free to chip in :)

And if someone would like to contribute to code, improve the CSS
theme, etc., it's currently living here, but will soon move it to a
    project of its own:

                Hi David!

                Great work!

            Thanks :)

I am just wondering what does the graph on each language
        page
                refer to
                as they are currently empthy?

The graph will show the percentage of translation over time. The
idea is to keep track of it in a database, by storing the
        percentage
            once a day.

The reason why the graph does not show a line right now is
        because
there is only one sample I took yesterday. I'll take another
        sample
today in the afternoon, when the stats from Launchpad have
        been updated.

With two points, then you'll be able to see the diagram's line.
Although if you haven't done many translations since
        yesterday, the
difference might be too little to appreciate, and you'll
        probably
            see a flat line.

            Cheers,
            David.

                    Ok,

I think I managed to get it working for the UGJ. Try it,
                enjoy it
and break it, more tomorrow :)
