Re: Columbus Ubuntu Hour Ideas

Jon and Team,

The current location for Ubuntu Hour is perfect if you live on campus and
walk everywhere. If you are coming in via car (from anywhere in the city,)
parking is a night mare. I suspect the location it self was selected
because it is walking distance from Campus. It may have also been selected
because it is accessible by bus. If the answer for selecting the current
location was accessibility by bus, then I think that perhaps we should make
sure that any new location is accessible by bus as well.

I was looking at the list of Panera locations in Columbus, and there is a
store on Grandview Avenue, just South of 5th that may work. I haven't
gotten a chance to drive over and check on parking, from looking at Google
Maps, it may face the same parking issues that plague the current location.)
Of course we don't have to meet at a Panera, although the idea of
essentially bottomless coffee and free wifi is nice, especially when you are
dealing with technical issues...

I also propose that we push the time back to 7pm. When we are working in
full swing, I am often getting home from work at 6:30 and would miss the
whole Ubuntu Hour by the time that I got home, changed, and headed back out
to get there.

Cheri brought up an idea on the thread about the NEO ReLoCo, one of having
multiple Ubuntu Hours in one city. This is something that has crossed my
mind as well as Davids in our discussions about this.

I was planning to take a drive and see if the Grandview location was a
possibility, and if so I will post that to the list.
