Binary package hint: fglrx

I have two displays, both 1680x1050, with display 2 on the right and rotated "right" (90 degrees). Total desktop area 2730x 1680.
Card is Radeon HD 4600.

If I enable fglrx, everything is fine.
If I then set "Multi-Display" for Display 2 in Catalyst Control Center (CCC) to "Multi-display desktop with display(s) 1", I can reboot or restart X fine and 2nd monitor will even correctly be set to rotation "Right" in CCC.
If I reboot/restart X after the above, or if I set Display 2 to rotation "Right" at the same time I set "Mult-display desktop", X will fail to start during boot, both displays go into power save, and everything will be unresponsive.
I can recover by booting into recovery command line and regenerating xorg.conf or replacing xorg.conf with a default backup.

Non-fglrx drivers do not have this issue.

Bug has been occurring since at least lucid, the first distro that I
installed on this machine.
