Public bug reported:

After upgrading to karmic my radeon graphic driver works fine. When I install fglrx it stops working - the screen turns black and I cannot even switch to a terminal anymore (seems like a problem with kbm).
Not only does fglrx not work - when it's installed radeon and radeonhd also don't work anymore (changed via xorg.conf) -> the same black screen of death.
After removing fglrx everything is back to normal.
