[Bug 454029] [NEW] screen resolution messed up; no longer recognizes monitor type

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

Yesterday a new version of xserver-xorg-video-intel came out for Ubuntu
9.04 (Jaunty) and I upgraded it using Synaptic. When I turned it off and
then turned back again the monitor was all of sudden 800x600 instead of
1024x768. I can no longer seem to switch monitor resolution, since
Ubuntu no longer seems to recongnize the type of monitor (now shows up
as "unknown" with res options of 800x600 and 640x480.
