[Bug 487406] [NEW] xorg sigsegv segmentation fault, nvidia_drv.so

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

I'm running Karmic on AMD64 with Nvidia 9400GT graphics card, TV-Out, and Nvidia driver 185.
I've been having persistent crashes (see here https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-180/+bug/435011 and here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-180/+bug/466937 ).
I'm still trying to find a root cause. While trying to obtain a backtrace following these instructions, https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Backtracing , I received a segmentation fault after approx 24 hours uptime. Exact error message is:
Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
0x05098619 in _nv001470X () from /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers//nvidia_drv.so

Unfortunately, I was not able to complete the backtrace, because the
segmentation fault also kills my SSH connection. I've attached the gdb-
Xorg.txt file to this report, but it doesn't show me anything that looks
useful.

I'm very open to any suggestions for workarounds or other tests to run. Please let me know your thoughts.
Dave
