[Bug 491565] [NEW] Recent update broke graphics

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

I have applied the most recent updates and then, after the next boot, I
could no longer get a working X session. I use kubuntu 9.10 and I guess
the issue is related to the boot splash screen, since the following
modifications in the boot command line solved the problem:

from

quiet splash

to

nosplash.

I also had to return to the xorg.conf file I used to use with kubuntu
9.04.
