[Bug 501598] Re: [i945gm] kernel mode setting kms broken, no gdm, with intel on eeepc 1000h

 

Actually, from CurrentDmesg.txt it seems that the real problem is that
xorg crashes. There are two segfaults indicated in CurrentDmesg.txt and
I guess that the second one is the one with VESA driver from which we
have the logs. For crashes we need a full backtrace. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Backtracing for how to get that. It would also
be nice if you could find out which package update fixes this. You may
try to update only the drivers by using the drivers-only PPA:
https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/drivers-only. To purge the
xorg-edgers PPA first, you can use the ppa-purge script from the ppa-
purge package in xorg-edgers.
