[Bug 575584] [NEW] Lucid Lynx - Increasing monitor resolution results in invisible mouse pointer.

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

Tested on two almost identical Compaq Deskpro Evo's. One with 10.04
installed + CRT, and the other running 10.04 live from a CD + LCD
detected as Hewlett Packard 17".

The Live CD boots, and runs at monitors max resolution. Reducing and
then increasing resolution works except that the mouse pointer is no
longer visible. Mouse is otherwise functional. Reducing the resolution
again brings the pointer back.

To reproduce:
1 Boot from CD - selecting Try Ubuntu 10.04
2 Run the "Monitor Preferences" applet ( System->Preferences->Monitors )
3 Reduce the resolution and click 'Apply'
4 Either let the dialog box time out or click button to return to previous resolution.
5 Note the missing pointer!

>From my experimentation, it seems any increase in resolution, whatever
the method, results in a missing pointer, however a decrease in
resolution does not.
