Booting Ubuntu Lucid 32-bit Desktop CD on a HP Pavillon dv2500, the
following card displays a default resolution which is not usable.  The
screen is offset to the right, there are artifacts and horizontal bars
on the screen.

Would it be possible to do two things in this bug:
1) Create a guide on the wiki explaining another workaround which explains how to either change the resolution (or installing the binary drivers from the Live CD without restarting). This will assure that people with this issue can check a verified document explaining how to get ubuntu installed on this hardware.
2) Get the default resolution for this machine to be 1280x800 instead of 1024x768 from the 10.04.1 CD

Workaround: Though the interface is not usable, you can still guide your
mouse and go to the correct items. Go to System > Preferences > Monitors
and change the default resolution of 1024x768 to 1280x800.
