[Bug 604786] [NEW] Multiple monitors do not work on Mobility Radeon HD 3470

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati

I am unable to enable multiple monitor support using a Dell Optiplex 780
desktop system with a Mobility Radeon HD 3470 with two monitors
connected by displayport using displayport -> DVI adapters under Ubuntu
10.04 64bit. Once Ubuntu starts, the secondary monitor goes to sleep
while the primary monitor functions as expected.

I have not installed the fglrx driver and I have not tweaked any xorg
settings.

With the monitors set to clone in Gnome's monitor configuration, the
primary monitor is on and the secondary is in standby. If I enable
multi-monitor support, then the secondary monitor will turn on and the
primary will turn off.

I expected/hoped that both monitors would work. For verification, both
monitors do function properly under a dual-boot of Windows XP on the
same hardware.
