Linux inception 2.6.35-19-generic #28-Ubuntu SMP Sun Aug 29 06:34:38 UTC
2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu maverick (development branch)
Release: 10.10
Codename: maverick
I have a second monitor that I connect using the VGA port. Suppose the vga cable is connected to the port when the laptop boots up:
1. The login screen is duplicated on both monitors. At this point whatever I do on one screen is replicated on the other
2. I removed the vga cable - now I see only one screen.
3. I logged in - the whole screen goes black with several artifacts.
4. After a hard reboot, I booted up this time WITHOUT connecting the vga port
5. logged in successfully.
6. successfully able to set up multi-monitor using "Monitor Preferences"
I am attaching the entire "/var/logs" directory
** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
