Really i guess the best way to find out is to go up to the top taskbar and click on
System - Administration - Synaptic Package Manager
it asks for your normal user password, not your SuperUserr/Root one.
Then hunt around the menu's at the top of that, particularly in the
"File" menu look for "Add downloaded packages" and see what you can do
with that. I haven't yet tried that option myself but hope to find out
a little more about it soon. Most people use "apt" or something from
the command-line so i'll mark this thread to try to get some people that
know more about that.
