Dohh, i'm really sorry.  Maybe 8.04 doesn't have the "Clear space"
option, i was convinced it did but i've been wrong before once or twice.
Sorry about that.  It's not worth 'upgrading' to get that feature
because 8.04 is arguably much better in many other ways, certainly it
has Long-Term-Support for bug-fixes and all that, so i would say stick
with 8.04 :)

I would avoid using IE6 especially because Firefox is safer and faster.
