Ufuk proposed the following answer:
If there is a file named .bash_profile in your /home/user directory, add
this line to file:

HOME=/home/user

You should change user to your username. Then save the file,
logout/login. If there is no file called .bash_profile in your user
directory, create it and add the same line.
