I have the same problem and I think I will give up.
The problem is in the glibc version required by the Oracle installer... 
(I was in Oracle since 1990's and was never able to understand why to put all this 'stuff' just in the installer).
The requirement is glibc-2.0!
Two issues: 
1) In Debian - Ubuntu the library is libc.so.6 (You can find symbolic links in /usr/lib to solve the compatibility issues)
2) The oldest compatible package I've found was gcc-2.95

I tried as I red in an other site (the page was referring to Oracle 9i
dev suite and Linux Debian (unstable). The writer said he was able to
install using gcc-2.95 but i can't... I encounter your same error (a
java error) referring to the miss of a symbol in the library...

I don't know...
I didn't hear about any successfull installation on ubuntu... 
But if you can find a way... I'm still searching
