Hmm, if the kernel you were on before was working 100% then i would use
that. Try pressing ESC when grub loads and choose the kernel that was
ok.
With kernels, newer isn't always better. You only need to upgrade the
kernel if you are having hardware issues or the system is horrifically
slow.
Try the old kernel, see how you go. If its ok. Uninstall the newest
kernel as it is no good to you and you will gain 100Mb space
