NV RAM is on of the storage of errors on the system. If this gets full
you'll get no bootup at all. By clearing this off it will hopefully get
a boot.

The CMOS battery is a big watch battery about half an inch in diameter
on the motherboard itself. It is how your computer remoembers the date
and time when the system is off. If you unplug your vcr and plug it back
in it forgets the time and flashes 12:00 doesn't it...thats what the
battery is there to prevent.

Maybe someone can suggest a more graceful method to resolve.

What happens when you hit the power button on the system?
