Re: [Question #78358]: Following error message received during a Jaunty update
Question #78358 on update-manager in ubuntu changed:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-manager/+question/78358
HPNormanIII gave more information on the question:
.
I am running 8.10 dual boot with XP. Also after trying to update to 9.04
Update Manager will not install any other updates
Simply please remove this 3 row at the top of the file
deb cdrom:[Ubuntu 9.04 _Jaunty Jackalope_ - Release i386 (20090420.1)]/ jaunty main restricted
deb cdrom:[Ubuntu 8.10 _Intrepid Ibex_ - Release i386 (20081029.5)]/ intrepid main restricted
deb cdrom:[Ubuntu 8.04 _Hardy Heron_ - Release i386 (20080423)]/ hardy main restricted
to do this Open a Terminal from the menu Applications → Accessories →
Terminal and type:
sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list
give your user password when requested, you don't see nothing when you
type it, then press enter.
Save and exit then retry the Jaunty update
Hope this helps
I removed the top three rows and then spent several hours running the
9.04 upgrade now Ubuntu will not boot it looks like it is still trying
to boot 8.10
