Re: First official wallpaper

Hey Tim,

the reason behind this wallpaper being branded is part of introducing
one of the major changes to the distribution - the change of the logo.
We always can, however, include it without it being the default and
people can opt to use it from the backgrounds menu.

On the other hand it's nothing uncommon - Xubuntu does the same. Many of
their blueish wallpapers have been featuring the logo in the past and
continue to do so today.

For Plymouth we have something more subtle to smoothen the transition. I
think when I say this I speak for everyone, that we don't want to
disrupt the current paradigm too much, but slight cosmetic upgrades here
and there won't hurt anyone, conversely, we believe users would welcome
them, since the default Gnome setup seems quite dated and most users
change most stuff after install (wallpapers, icons, themes...).

To give you a better idea of what we were thinking about I'm attaching a
screenshot. It has not yet been decided, but we're talking about it.

Sent using Evolution from Ubuntu

Nothing ruins creativity like too many voices weighing in. We call it
the Ice Cream Principle. Tell 10 people to go get ice cream with one
condition: they all have to agree on one flavour. That flavour is going
to be chocolate or vanilla every time. Groups of people don't agree on
what's cool or interesting, they agree on what's easy to agree on.
