I'm not convinced that plastering the new logo across everyones desktops will help this much, people will make the association pretty quickly
once they see the plymouth screen, and then presumably a logo on the login screen. But really that is just my opinion and its up to you guys to
make the actual decisions on this.

And many distros have moved away from doing this, in fact ubuntu itself was probably one of the first to go with a recurring theme, but not
plastered with branding.

the GNOME wallpapers have evolved significantly over the last couple of years, if they were still using the blue blinds of the 3.8 era, then I
would call them dated.  But that is pretty irrelevant to this discussion, I have no issue with us using a different wallpaper(s).

Now that we have systemd init, it might be possible to use a proper progress indicator (i,e 0 - 100%), rather than the recurring/cycling dots. I
know fedora do this. The problem before with upstart was that we never accurately knew how far through the boot we were.
