[Bug 999143] Re: issues with oriented text
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many
changes in the scribus packaging since that time you reported the bug
and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would
help us a lot if you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu
version. When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the
updated logs by running `apport-collect 296583` and any other logs that
are relevant for this particular issue.
Furthermore, you didn't specify the ubuntu release you are running.
See this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases
If you are worrying about the missing of the last upstream release, fear
no more, in a couple of month I'll uploading that (see bug #1220379)
I've tried recreating this bug with Trusty and was unable to, given the
information you've provided. Please upgrade to the latest version and
re-test. If the bug is still reproducible please do what I write above.
Do feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

Title:
issues with oriented text
Status in “scribus” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
Current version of scribus in ubuntu (1.4.0.dfsg+r17300-1ubuntu1)
suffers of oriented text not being correctly displayed. In contrast
current version from Scribus repository doesn't suffer of this problem
(scribus_1.4.0.dfsg-1 in http://debian.scribus.net/debian/).
Given that 1) users may not know of the scribus repository, and 2) the
scribus repository doesn't include yet packages for precise, I would
encourage ubuntu packagers/maintainers to see whether this is a bug in
packaging or if instead the scribus package needs to be upgraded to
current stable version.
