Huh?  It's actually worse for me, as the only thing it does is a small
change in brightness of a small grey icon.  To attract attention, it
should be "annoying" (flashing or moving or something like that).

(Tested on an up-to-date lucid system & restarted everything to be sure
I had the latest indicator applet.)
