Yes, youre right.
I think round corners look better than the balloon in Unity.
I hope these are the things that Mark Shuttleworth mentioned on his blog
with making Ubuntu 12.04 "pixel perfect".

I think it looks better when Ubuntu will use the same kind of pop-up
balloon as Gnome 3 does.
You can see what I mean in the screenshot.
In Apple OS X the menu looks more smooth because of subtle round corners.
